Interested in lowering your utility bills forever?

The Energy Cayman Home Energy Competition is giving homeowners an opportunity to save on utility bills, while contributing to a more sustainable future for Cayman. 

The Ministry of Commerce, Planning and Infrastructure, in conjunction with CUC, is giving Grand Cayman residents the chance to win a home energy makeover worth up to CI $20,000. This prize aims to have lifelong, cost-saving benefits for the homeowner AND increase the home’s value while creating an energy efficient future for Grand Cayman.

The competition is also offering prizes of eight Home Energy Audits worth up to $1,900 each.


What are the entry requirements?

The Home Energy Efficiency Competition is open to all homeowners that reside in their properties in Grand Cayman. 
The criteria are as follows:

  • You must own the house and reside within it as a single-family.


What's up for grabs?

The energy makeover will be individualised for the winning property based upon the findings of the Home Energy Audit, but may include:

  • Energy-efficient air conditioning unit
  • Solar water heaters
  • Smart thermostats
  • Envelope sealing and spray foam attic insulation
  • Energy-efficient appliances
  • A water heater tank timer
  • LED bulbs
  • Shade trees


What's the end goal?

The competition is running as part of Energy Cayman, the Ministry of Commerce Planning and Infrastructure's 12-month campaign to embed energy efficiency into the Cayman community.

The vision of the campaign is to promote energy efficiency and conservation methods to residents and businesses in the Cayman Islands, encouraging a sustainable lifestyle through responsible and innovative energy supply and consumption. This has been launched to meet the goals in the Government’s National Energy Policy which includes 70% of electricity generation from renewable sources by 2037.

To enter, fill out the short form below and answer a simple question about the National Energy Policy.

Entry opens on Wednesday 7 October 2020. Only one entry is allowed per property. Winners will be notified after the closing date by email/telephone. The competition closes at 12noon on Wednesday 18 November 2020.
